OPP says fees for record checks and fingerprint work have increased

Nipissing West OPP is letting residents of West Nipissing and surrounding communities know that the cost of fingerprinting and records checks have increased.

If a person is looking for a job and there’s a need for either a criminal, police or vulnerable sector check, the cost is $41.

If the same checks are required for volunteer work, there is no charge.

The public also has to prepare for a $65 charge when asking the OPP for fingerprint work.

However, the cost drops to $25 if the fingerprint is a live-scan and is on behalf of the RCMP.

Residents of West Nipissing can have the work carried out at either the OPP detachments in North Bay or Warren.

Nipissing West OPP says residents of Warren, St. Charles and the Municipality of French River can have the work done at their nearest OPP detachment.

Nipissing West OPP says if you have the work done at the Warren, Noelville or Sudbury detachment, the exact change is needed.

If the North Bay OPP are doing the work, payment can only be made by debit or credit card.

OPP have some other reminders.

If a request is made for a vulnerable sector record check or for volunteer work, then a letter from the employer needs to be given to the police.

People also need to provide two pieces of government identification one of which has to have a photo ID.

The person wanting the work has to attend the OPP detachment in person and pay upfront to start the process.

Remember that a record check can take up to three weeks to complete.

In addition, fingerprint work requires an appointment and one can be set up by calling 1-888-310-1122.
