North Bay Police Chief has been busy during his first month on the job

The job as Police Chief is turning out to be a little busier than Scott Tod expected.

Tod has been in the role as North Bay Police Chief a little more than a month after replacing Shawn Devine who retired.

When he was Deputy Chief, Tod would accompany Devine to the various events both attended.

Now that he’s taken the lead, Tod is seeing the work through new eyes.

“It is surprising to see how busy the job is,” Tod said.

“I worked closely with him (Shawn Devine) but I didn’t really appreciate how busy he was in regards to attending community events.”

Tod says now Michael Daze, the new Deputy Chief, accompanies him at those events.

He says they’ve been listening to people in the community over what changes they would like to see with regards to police services.

However, there’s more to those visits.

The Chief and Deputy also provide organizations with advice on matters like substance abuse and mental health.

“It’s all the things we deal with together jointly and cooperatively with all these other agencies,” said the new Chief.
