Rash of break-ins in St. Charles lead to several arrests

Nipissing West OPP has solved a string of break, enter and thefts in St. Charles.

Investigators say the break-in dates back to May 4th where a home was broken into while the owners were asleep and valuables like a laptop, TV, cellphone, X-Box and wallet were stolen.

While police looked into the case they learned that earlier during the spring two nearby camps had also been broken into and a TV was stolen.

Later in May OPP got word of an ATV being driven up and down the back roads in St. Charles.

That investigation eventually led to the recovery of two stolen ATVs and an Off-Road Vehicle.

Two people under 18, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act were eventually charged.

In addition, a 19-year-old St. Charles man was connected to the same case and he faces three counts of break and enter to commit an indictable offence, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and flight from a peace officer.
