New Detachment Commander for North Bay OPP

The North Bay OPP has a new Detachment Commander.

He’s Staff Sergeant William (Bill) McMullen.

Born and raised in North Bay, McMullen first joined the North Bay city police in 2000 before moving to the OPP six years later starting with the Oxford County Detachment.

In 2008 McMullen achieved the rank of Detective Constable and worked in a special crime unit.

Two years later he began making the move closer to home by transferring to the Almaguin Highlands Detachment and in 2012 McMullen became a Sergeant.

That’s the way matters remained until last month when McMullen was named a Staff Sergeant and Detachment Commander of the North Bay OPP.

McMullen’s goals as the new commander are to improve traffic safety and provide investigative excellence.

He also wants to find more effective and efficient ways to better serve the surrounding communities.
