Thousands of Canadian soldiers who gave their lives in 1944 were recognized in France on June 6th, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings and Battle for Normandy.
Not all the troops made it back home in making the ultimate sacrifice.
One of those soldiers was 19-year-old Joseph Ernest Albert Aubin of Sturgeon Falls.
Aubin was in Montreal when he enlisted in the Canadian Army.

Records show Aubin was overseas where he went through four weeks of gruelling training and testing and then was accepted to the elite 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion.
Then between 1:00am and 1:30am on June 6th, 1944 Aubin jumped with other paratroopers onto France and at some point was killed.
