Serre recognizes West Nipissing and Sudbury for climate emergency resolutions

The Municipality of West Nipissing and the City of Greater Sudbury are both being commended by Marc Serre, the MP for Nickel Belt.

The Liberal MP is recognizing both municipalities for passing climate emergency declarations at their respective council meetings.

Serre says climate change and global warming are real and it’s not a battle we can “eliminate alone” but one where everyone needs to work together.

He says this means everyone at a local, provincial, national and global level working as one.

Serre says in April, the federal government released a report that shows Canada is warming at twice the world average.

Serre says the future of our health, the survival of many species, the environment, economy and future generations depend on us.

Serre is hopeful that more northern communities follow the leads of West Nipissing and Sudbury and pass climate emergency declarations.

He acknowledges more still has to be done but when all government levels work together, there “is truly a sense of hope” as we move toward a green future.
