West Nipissing Cycle for Charity sees lots of riders

It was a very large turnout for the West Nipissing Cycle for Charity although the final number of participants fell just short of last year’s all-time high.

In total, 172 people took part in the ride, which is 20 shy of last year’s 192 number of riders.

Organizers were still working on the total amount of money raised which goes to Bikes For Kids which buys bicycles, helmets and locks for children through the West Nipissing Community Health Centre.

Participants rode over a 25, 50 or 100-kilometre course.

The majority, at 126, chose to ride the 50-K course.

Another 13 opted for the short run while 33 cyclists braved the 100-kilometre long length.

While participants were fed a hot lunch at the Lavigne Tavern, protein bars and water were provided along the route.
