Sudbury police suspect foul play behind discovery of skull and bones

The skull and bones found north of Sudbury about a week ago are those of a Sudbury man missing for 23 years.

Twenty-nine-year-old Alexander Stretnovic was last seen 11:30pm August 14th, 1996 leaving his Elm Street home.

Two people found a skull near Valley East in a wooded area and called police who cordoned off the area.

With the scene sectioned off, police and forensic crews began an intense ground search which resulted in more bones being found.

When Stretnovic went missing, police considered his disappearance suspicious.

They followed up leads over the years and talked to many people.

Although the coroner has not been able to determine a cause of death, police suspect foul play.

Police will release more information as it becomes available.
