Number of participants in Cycle for Charity tops 100

With two days to go before the annual West Nipissing Cycle for Charity, the event is guaranteed to raise more money for Bikes For Kids.

As a Thursday morning, 121 people had registered for the event and spokesman Dan Roveda said more people were expected to register before Sunday’s event and on the day of the cycling.

Cycle for Charity raises money that helps buy bicycles, locks and helmets for children.

The event is run in partnership with the West Nipissing Community Health Centre.

Participants have a choice of cycling a 25, 50 or 100 kilometre length.

This is the fourth year for the fundraiser and last year it brought in $8,567 thanks to 192 cyclists.

Although rain is forecast for Sunday, Roveda doesn’t expect that to affect participation.

Registration begins at 8:30am with the departure at 10:00am from the Caisse populaire in Sturgeon Falls.
