West Nipissing again tells motorists to stay off closed, flooded roads

The municipality of West Nipissing is again telling motorists to stay off flooded roads that remain closed.

The municipality says the only people who should be driving on these roads are those who need to get to their primary homes.

Several calls have come into the town hall telling municipal officials that some motorists are ignoring the order.

Getting caught on a closed road if you’re not supposed to be on it will result in a fine.

The rationale for keeping vehicles off the affected roads is to minimize wave action which could damage the road infrastructure and homes.

The level of Lake Nipissing is expected to remain stable for the next several days as a result of minimal rain and wind.

West Nipissing’s Emergency Services and Operations Crews are continuing to patrol and assess conditions each day.

They continue to flag any potential hazards.
