Cycle for Charity set for this weekend

The West Nipissing Cycle for Charity is set for June 2nd.

Event chairman Dan Roveda says this is the fourth annual Cycle for Charity which raises funds for Bikes For Kids.

The event is run in a partnership with the West Nipissing Community Mental Health Centre.

Roveda says more than 90 people have registered to date to ride one of three lengths.

The lengths are 25 kilometres, 50 kilometres and 100 kilometers.

Roveda says participants don’t have to worry about their bike breaking down or if they can’t go the distance.

He says organizers have mechanics in place and there are people with trailers who can pick you up, put your bike in the trailer and get you back to Sturgeon Falls.

When the event was first held in 2016, 96 cyclists took part.

That jumped to 152 people and last year 192 cyclists road the paths and raised $8,567.

All the departures are from the Caisse Populaire in Sturgeon Falls at 10:00am with registrations beginning at 8:30am.

Roveda has more information and can be reached at 753-2487 or go to www.westnipissingcycleforcharity.com for more information.
