Suspicious package found in North Bay post office harmless

The suspicious package found at the Canada Post building in North Bay contained a harmless white powder.

Phil Legualt, with Media Relations at Canada Post, says once the powder was determined to be harmless, employees were let back into the building.

Legault says they returned to work shortly after 10:00am.

Legault says the post office followed its internal safety and security procedures once an employee discovered the suspicious package.

Fire Chief Jason Whiteley says his department got the call about the package around 7:45am and the department sent its Haz/Mat team.

Once properly suited up the members entered the building around 9:30am, retrieved and secured the suspicious package and it was sent off for analysis.
