Health unit says water for non-municipal system users may have been compromised by floodwaters

There’s something new people have to worry about as they face floodwaters in the region.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says depending on your source of drinking water, floods may have compromised the safety of your water.

This health issue does not impact homeowners who get their water from a municipal system since it has built-in safeguards.

However, that’s not the case with other systems like well water.

The health unit wants people to know there is the potential for health and safety risks when dealing with water following overland flooding.

The health unit suggests people who have seen their drinking water compromised to use another source in the interim.

It says to keep using the alternative source until flood waters recede and there’s a chance to test your water source to determine if it’s safe again to drink and use.
