Canadore students at provincial skills competition

School isn’t exactly over yet for four Canadore College students.

The four are in Toronto for the Skills Ontario Competition.

The annual event is one where students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom against other college students and attempt to show why they are the best in their respective fields.

The winners will qualify to take part in the Skills Canada National Competition, which this year is in Halifax, Nova Scotia in June.

Two students, Jay Brocke of Seguin and Cassidy Prieur of Amherstburg, are competing in the aircraft maintenance post-secondary contest.

Both are in their second year of the aviation technology-aircraft maintenance and structures program.

Austin Peddie is from North Cobalt and he’s a first-year building construction technician student.

Peddie is competing in the individual post-secondary contest.

The fourth student at the event is Conor Tierney from Prescott.

The first-year student is demonstrating his skills in the precision machining post-secondary contest.

Winners get a gold, silver or bronze medal and each goes on to the national competition.
