Callander councillor seeking Tory nomination for Nipissing-Timiskaming

The federal riding of Nipissing-Timiskaming has its first candidate for the Conservative nomination.

Jordy Carr is a member of council in Callander and owns a business.

The businesswoman says in her declaration to seek the Tory nomination that the north has been forgotten by the Trudeau Liberals.

Carr says the federal Liberals have hindered economic development in the riding and Northern Ontario.

Carr says if she wins the nomination, her campaign will focus on economic development which includes mining, forestry, farming and tourism.

Carr says the Liberals are out of control with their tax and spend policies and it’s time voters in the riding send a new face to Ottawa.

She says the status quo is not working and the riding needs a strong voice.

Carr is also critical of incumbent MP Anthony Rota.

She says Rota “stood silently by as Trudeau kicked two, principled women MPs from the Liberal Caucus”.

Carr is referring to the SNC Lavalin issue and how the Prime Minister treated former Cabinet Ministers Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott.

“I will stand up and speak out for what is right,” Carr said in her release.

The Conservative riding association hasn’t yet announced a nomination date where party members select the candidate they want to have represent them in the October 25th federal election.
