Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning, in effect for:
- West Nipissing – French River
- North Bay – Powassan – Mattawa
The national meteorological service reports freezing rain is expected to affect the region beginning near noon. Freezing rain will come to an end by this evening, with patchy drizzle or freezing drizzle expected in its wake.
The freezing precipitation is due to a low pressure system passing by well to the south of Northeastern Ontario today.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
