Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre says he continues to work on some funding for West Nipissing so it can host the International Plowing Match.
Some funding has been provided but there’s last-minute money the municipality is trying to secure.
Verner is the site for the IPC which takes place in September.
Serre says the event will allow West Nipissing to showcase itself to Ontario and the rest of Canada.
He also told council that he’s invited the Prime Minister to the event and he continues to push for Justin Trudeau’s presence.
Serre passed on the information during a presentation to council this week.
While at the meeting, the Liberal MP updated members of council on other initiatives.
One of those initiatives is the feds expanding the mandate of FedNor to include tourism projects.
Serre says things like waterfront projects would be an example of something FedNor would consider.
Serre also said he’s continuing to work on getting more internet services across Nickel Belt.
