Auto theft incident results in another charge

The individual charged in West Nipissing in connection with a stolen vehicle from Sudbury has now also been charged by OPP in Warren.

Warren police have charged the 21-year-old Sudbury man with mischief destroys or damages property.

The charge is in connection with a man breaking the window of a parked vehicle by a business in Markstay-Warren on the afternoon of April 14th.

However, the broken window was as far as the accused got because sleeping in the back seat was the owner of the vehicle.

The accused was startled by this and took off in a nearby vehicle.

It turns out the nearby vehicle was later determined to be the one reported stolen from Sudbury.

Once he left Markstay-Warren, the accused headed east toward Sturgeon Falls.

As was reported earlier, once in Sturgeon Falls the driver hit a vehicle on Holditch Street, got as far as Levesque Street where the vehicle was abandoned and the driver and his passenger took off on foot.

The driver was found later in Cache Bay thanks to information from the public about a suspicious person and he was arrested by West Nipissing police but there was no sign of the passenger.

Local police charged the man with several offences and he’s also been charged by Sudbury police in connection with the stolen vehicle.
