Regional CUPE leaders meet

The Ontario division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees is continuing the drive to increase the minimum wage to $14 an hour.  Regional CUPE leaders met on Monday to discuss this issues as well as the provincial budget.  Henri Giroux, a CUPE official in North Bay, says the last time the minimum wage went up was in 2010.  He says since then, inflation has eroded seven percent of the purchasing value of that hourly rate.  Boosting the minimum wage to 14 dollars an hour from the current $10.25 works out to a 37 percent increase.
