Legion can bottow West Nipissing council’s tent for big fundraiser

Branch 225 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Sturgeon Falls is getting a helping hand from West Nipissing council.

Council has agreed to a Legion request to let it borrow its tent for a fundraising initiative for the NEO Kids Foundation in Sudbury on June 15th.

The Legion is coordinating the event with another group.

The municipality loans out its tents on a regular basis.

A third party puts up the tents, take them down after the events are over and then stores them.

Staff told council the cost to do this each time is $350.

Council agreed to the request, acknowledging that the Legion does important fundraising work.

Council is also letting the Legion borrow the tent a second time during the summer.

This is for a July 20th event the Legion is holding to cover some of its costs.
