A child under five has died at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. The cause of death is not known and an autopsy is being performed. Health officials say the youngster had a flu-like respiratory illness and tested positive for the “A” strain of the virus in an initial screening. However this is still under investigation pending the autopsy results. Meanwhile the hospital and other health authorities are examining what health implications, if any, the death may have on patients and the community. The hospital says a complete clinical review is underway and can’t say anymore at this time.
