Fake call on overdose results in charges

A 37-year-old Sturgeon Falls woman is looking at charges after making a fake medical distress call to West Nipissing police.

As police responded to the possible overdose case on March 27th, another call came in complaining about a stolen bicycle.

The overdose case was alleged to have taken police on Nipissing Street and the stolen bike incident is alleged to have taken place on Pembroke Street.

Police eventually learned the accused made the phony medical distress call as a diversion.
