Cost revealed to replace Duchesnay Creek Bridge

The cost to replace the Duchesnay Creek Bridge will be about $12-million.

The Ministry of Transportation announced the bridge replacement project during mid-winter and shortly after that announcement was forced to close the 1937 structure for safety reasons.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced the replacement cost during an event with Nipissing First Nation Chief Scott McLeod.

The bridge will be built through a partnership between NFN and Miller Paving.

When it released details about the replacement project in January, the MTO said the work would likely begin this summer and take two years to complete.

The finished bridge will be about 10 metres longer than the present bridge and two metres wider.

That will make the finished structure 83 metres long and 13 metres wide.
