Retail trade posts the most jobs

Retail trade narrowly beat out health care and social assistance as the sector with the highest percentage of job postings in Nipissing District during January.

The industry had 18.4 percent of the job postings, slightly more than the 17.8 percent of the jobs posted under the health care and social assistance fields.

In retail trade, the top five positions employers were looking to fill were retail sales clerk (18) followed by retail manager and assistant manager (10).

The numbers fall off after this with businesses looking to hire 5 people in merchandising areas, another three in an automotive detailer capacity and drug stores were looking for two pharmacy assistants.

The next three sectors combined recorded just only 21.8 percent of the job postings.

These were administrative and support as well as waste management and remediation services which accounted for 7.4 percent of the postings.

Tied with 7.2 percent of the other job postings were transportation and warehousing followed by accommodation and food services.

The figures were released by the Labour Market Group.
