Ratepayers group says only staff cuts not attrition will bring down North Bay budget

The North Bay Ratepayers Association says if council is serious about reducing spending, then it has to cut staff.  Don Rennick, a chartered accountant, says council’s current method of reducing costs through attrition doesn’t work.  Rennick says in 2013 the city had 15 fewer employees than it did in 2011 but wages were up $4.5 million over the same period.  Rennick says the hospital and university are trimming staff and he says it’s time council did likewise.  Council did not challenge his numbers.
