The West Nipissing police and fire departments recognized their own on Tuesday in an awards ceremony. Emergency services were recognized for their work in helping an accident victim and long time service awards were also given out. One recipient was retired Sergeant Norm Gingras who received a 30-year exemplary service award. Another recipient was Michel Paquette for his work on the Cops for Kids foundation. For the award involving the accident victim, constables Michel Paquette, Ken Paquette and Terry Beauchamp as well as firefighter Michel Desormier were recognized for their work.
