Major renovation continues at Science North

Big changes are taking place at Science North.

As the science building celebrates its 35th-anniversary major retrofit and renovation continue on the fourth floor.

So far the federal government has given the facility $1.67 million for the work including the latest amount, $150,000 to install an accessible family washroom, upgrading the HVAC systems in the new programming space and adding a bridge so the public has another way to get to the seats at the Discovery Theatre at Science North’s top floor.

Work carried out earlier includes building new labs and exhibits in addition to the new programming spaces.

The fourth floor promotes science, technology, engineering and math by providing hands-on learning and engagement.

The total investment of $1.67 million represents the largest amount of money Science North has received in its 35-year history.

Part of that money went to creating six permanent hubs which host attractions across the north.
