Man found passed out behind the wheel on Lake Nipissing

A Hamilton-area man has lost his vehicle and license after he was found passed out in his vehicle on Lake Nipissing with the engine running.

A passerby reported the matter to the North Bay OPP around 9:00am Sunday and told police the vehicle was stuck on the lake.

When police arrived they found the man asleep and the engine revving and in reverse.

They woke up the 43-year-old man who is from Stoney Creek and carried out a roadside test.

The results gave police enough information to arrest him for impaired driving.

The man was taken to the OPP detachment for more testing.

As a result, the man was charged with operation while impaired with a blood-alcohol level above 80 milligrams.

The man was also charged with driving without a valid permit.

The man has lost his driver’s license for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
