Tory finance critic Vic Fedeli says the Liberals need to take their $12.5 billion deficit more seriously. The MPP was reacting to news that the agency Fitch has downgraded Ontario’s credit rating from Double A to Double A minus. Downgrades mean higher interest to cover government borrowing. Fedeli says the $11 billion in interest we’re now paying on the debt is eroding health programs and we can’t afford any more hits. He says credible groups have told the Liberals they need to reduce the deficit and debt but Fedeli adds they keep ignoring the warnings. Fedeli says the Wynne Liberals are creating serious consequences for the people of Ontario and Fitch says difficult actions lie ahead.
