UPDATED: SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT IN EFFECT

Not everyone has had it with winter, as our friends on the trails will attest.

Environment Canada has updated a special weather statement, in effect for West Nipissing, North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa and French River.

Snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres possible tonight into Friday.

The national meteorological service says snow will intensify this evening. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are possible before the snow tapers off during the day Friday. Locally higher amounts near Georgian Bay are expected. Travel may be affected.

This will be a long duration snow event. Snowfall warning criteria of 15 cm or more in 12 hours or less is not expected to be met at this time.

This snow is associated with an Alberta Clipper tracking across Northeastern Ontario tonight.
