International Plowing Match to feature catapult challenge from area students

The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo taking place in West Nipissing later this year could see a lot of pumpkins flying through the air.

The flying pumpkins would be launched by catapults built by students from the area’s various school boards.

The event is thanks to a request from West Ferris Intermediate Secondary and the IPM organizing group approving the request.

The goal is for participating schools to build a catapult during second semester.

Work done to date includes the specifications for the catapults and the range they’ll have.

Soon, West Ferris students will challenge other students and once everyone is on board, the design and manufacturing of the catapults can begin.

The IPM takes place in Verner during September.
