Serre gets new responsibilities

Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre will be able to put what he’s learned about rural issues to another use.

The Prime Minister has named Serre the Parliamentary Secretary to Bernadette Jordan who is the Minister of Rural Economic Development.

Serre has experience with rural issues.

During April 2017 his peers selected him as the chair of the National Liberal Rural caucus.

Serre says the experience he picked up as the rural caucus chair will help him as he assumes his new duties.

Those new duties include speaking and acting on behalf of Jordan when the minister is not available.

Serre and Jordan will also work on a rural economic development strategy which is designed to strengthen and diversify rural communities.

In addition, by working with several other federal ministries, people can expect a number of rural infrastructure announcements.

Other initiatives include developing affordable housing and successfully delivering Service Canada programs.
