A Strong Township man is dead after a train collided with the machinery he was operating.
Yesterday, at approximately 11:00am, Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police, along with Sundridge, Strong Fire Department and Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services responded to a fatal collision involving a Canadian National (CN) train and a backhoe just off High Rock Road.
Police investigation revealed that a northbound train collided with the backhoe that was travelling west on a private road. The driver of the backhoe, Wayne McLaren, 72, of Strong Township was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate and a post mortem is scheduled for today.
