Audio issues expected to be thing of the past at West Nipissing council

The next time residents of West Nipissing watch their council meeting in February, there is a good chance audio will accompany the meeting and the hit and miss sessions should be a thing of the past.

Mayor Joanne Savage says moving forward, the Eastlink camera for cable viewers will be situated at the back of the council chambers.

Savage says the camera will provide a static, wide-angle view of the entire chamber.

The drawback is the camera won’t be moving around or cutting to different shots, so whenever a delegation addresses council, the viewer will only be able to see the presenter’s back.

The setup will be different for the online views through Livestream.

In this instance, the equipment is being replaced and staff will control the camera.

As a result, whenever a delegation appears at council, staff can zoom in on the person.

Recently council meetings have been plagued with no sound, the most recent occurrence taking place at the January 8th meeting although the audio was back for council’s January 15th meeting.
