LMG consultations ready to begin

It’s a busy week for the Labour Market Group in Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts.

Beginning Tuesday, LMG begins another round of community consultations with employers, community and industry leaders and various agencies to address work challenges in the region.

LMG executive director Stacie Fiddler says the sessions are all 90 minutes in length and begin in North Bay Tuesday morning.

After the North Bay meeting, LMG moves to Sturgeon Falls for a similar session in the afternoon.

Fiddler says the consultations include LMG updating the groups on what’s happening from a labour front in the communities and what emerging trends are developing.

From the employer input segment Fiddler expects to once again hear the difficulties they’re having filling positions with qualified people.

This includes having an employer survey data where business owners can outline their workforce-related challenges.

Once LMG collects all the data, it will be posted on its website toward the latter part of February.

Fiddler says the website will include additional information like population counts, the age range of the region and income levels.

It’s hoped that by collecting the information and data at the community consultations, LMG can also suggest strategies in the completed online report.

Following the North Bay and Sturgeon Falls meetings on Tuesday, LMG has a consultation in Mattawa on Wednesday and that’s followed by meetings in Almaguin Highlands and Parry Sound on Thursday.

Fiddler says it’s important that anyone planning to attend any of the meetings register beforehand.
