Area school boards react to Fraser rankings of elementary schools

Three of the four boards in Nipissing have reacted to the Fraser Institute’s ranking of Ontario’s three thousand-plus elementary schools.

Although a small number of the schools had decent showings, the majority ranked in the lower tier and some even approached the near bottom of the list.

The Near North District School Board says in a release it examines statistics, trends and all relevant information in order to develop a deeper understanding of the students’ learning and education needs.

The board acknowledges the rankings from Fraser provide some form of analysis.

However, it uses more information like evidence-based data when assessing student needs.

The Near North board says it’s proud of all its schools and doesn’t consider them to be competing with one another.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco Nord board says it’s also proud of its schools’ many achievements.

It says the many projects at its schools will bear fruit.

Franco Nord adds the staff work with students to provide the best education and the best learning experiences for them.

MyWestNipissingNow.com  also asked the Conseil scolaire public du North-Est de l’Ontario for a reaction to the Fraser rankings, however, the board said it would not be commenting in the findings.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board did not respond with an answer.
