Union Gas supports Trans Cananda pipeline through North Bay

In principal, Union Gas supports the Trans Canada Pipeline to pass oil through North Bay destined for the Maritimes.  However Union president Steve Baker also says his company wants to make sure the pipeline doesn’t result in higher gas prices for northerners.  The reason is Trans Canada has two pipelines that go from North Bay to Ottawa and one of those lines would be converted to accept Alberta oil.  Baker says Union Gas wants to ensure that the remaining line has enough capacity to handle its gas otherwise the utility has to look at alternative delivery methods.  Baker made the comments at a North Bay chamber of commerce meeting.
