Speedy driver nabbed in West Nipissing

A North Bay man speeding through the municipality of West Nipissing faces a double whammy.

In addition for being charged with excessive speed for stunt driving, the 36-year-old was also driving without insurance and faces a charge of operating a vehicle without insurance.

The man was clocked at more than 50 kilometres an hour over the speed limit in West Nipissing.

The offence for racing a motor vehicle carries an automatic seven-day suspension of an individual’s driver’s license and loss of the vehicle also for seven days.

Members of the Sudbury OPP were carrying out a speed enforcement initiative on Highway 17 the evening of New Year’s Day when the man was caught.

It was during the traffic stop that police also discovered the man didn’t have any insurance.
