NEW YEAR’S IN? HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS LIKELY

Would-be New Year’s revellers might do better to break out the board games and hunker down by the fire.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, in effect for West Nipissing, North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa and French River.

Canada’s meteorological service is predicting snow with a risk of freezing rain to ring in the new year.

Snow is expected to spread into portions of Central, Eastern and Northeastern Ontario Monday evening. At this point, a snowfall accumulation of 10 to 20 centimetres appears likely by Tuesday morning.
