Serre looking to 2019

Marc Serre, the MP for Nickel Belt says 2018 was a busy and productive year and believes next year will be no different.

Serre has several goals in mind for the New Year and one of them involves immigration.

In a year-end statement, Serre says immigration is an economic driver for Canada and that immigrants will continue to arrive.

However, the Liberal MP notes that there’s intolerance toward some immigrants and he blames falsehoods and inaccuracies for this.

Serre is hopeful that people get the facts before talking about immigration because the intolerance only causes divisions and is futile.

Serre is a major supporter of Canada’s immigration program because he says it creates jobs, grows the economy and attracts investments.

Another of Serre’s goals is to forge even better relationships with First Nations.

Serre is the co-chair of the Indigenous Caucus and in this position, he influenced legislation that helped First Nation communities.

Serre says by improving relationships even further with Indigenous people, their housing and education improve.

It’s his goal to engage with elders and First Nation young people to further improve land claims and treaties.

Serre says the riding saw numerous activities where he was a participant.

Among them were Feast on the Farm in West Nipissing and the 25th anniversary of Camp Soleil in Noelville.

He says the federal government made substantial investments in Nickel Belt during 2018 in areas like housing, education and accessibility.

Serre adds investment dollars also went into infrastructure, seniors’ issues and innovation and this will have a positive impact on Nickel Belt in the New Year.
