News One driver killed, one to hospital after Highway 17 crash SHARE ON: Stu Campaigne, staff Sunday, Dec. 16th, 2018 A head-on collision had claimed one life on a northern highway and has sent the other driver to the hospital with serious injuries, the OPP confirms. Police say the deceased driver died at the scene of the collision on Highway 17 between Wahnapitae and Markstay, west of Kukagami Lake Road, some 100 kilometres west of North Bay. The name of the deceased subject is not being released at this time pending the notification of next of kin. The highway was closed for approximately five hours and has since reopened. The police investigation is ongoing.
