Senior falls for grandparent scam but doesn't lose money
A senior in Espanola fell for the grandparent scam, but a glitch saved her from losing any money. The woman got a call from someone pretending to be her grandson saying he needed $1,500 to get out of trouble. The con artist told the woman to send the money using a Money Gram transfer. The woman did as instructed but the Money Gram recognized that the recipient’s address was a fake and sent the woman back her money.
