Traffic stop results in numerous charges against Bonfield man

Driving while suspended and getting caught by a North Bay police officer has resulted in numerous charges against a 25-year-old Bonfield man.

The officer saw the man driving on Thursday and when he stopped the vehicle, inside was a quantity of prescription drugs and cash.

The drugs include 6.4 grams of purple fentanyl, 2.6 grams of fentanyl/heroin, 14 oxycodone pills and four methamphetamine pills.

Police put the value of the drugs at nearly $7,000.

Police also found $4,245 in the vehicle, a spring-loaded knife which is a prohibited weapon and digital scales.

The man is looking at drug-related charges including two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He’s also facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition.

The man has also been charged with driving while suspended, the offence that triggered his arrest in the first place.
