Judge hits Sundridge man with one year animal ownership ban

It’s a one year ban on owning any animals and $1,000 fine for a Sundridge man after being found guilty under animal welfare legislation.

Gregory Hall must also reimburse the Ontario SPCA $1,337 and after his one year ban is over, Hall can only own one dog for a five year period.

The 33-year-old got a visit from the SPCA last year in August after the agency got a call about how several dogs on the property were being cared for.

During that visit, investigators found that two of the three dogs were underweight and told Hall to have a veterinarian examine both dogs.

However, during a second visit, the SPCA couldn’t find Hall and couldn’t confirm that he had complied with the examination order.

They entered the property and found all three dogs living in debris, feces and urine spread across the building.

In addition, there was no potable water for any of the dogs.

All three dogs were seized and placed under the care of the SPCA.

The health of the three dogs has since improved and all three have new homes.

Alison Green, who is the Senior Inspector with the Ontario SPCA, says there is no excuse for any animal to live in unsanitary conditions and not have access to basic necessities like water.

Hall was convicted earlier this month.
