Pioneer doctor passes away

A Sudbury doctor who was instrumental in bringing dialysis services to the Northeast has passed away. William Fay introduced the kidney procedure in Sudbury during the 70’s and it helped many residents along the North Shore and the far north. A colleague of Fay, Doctor Mary Katherine Coady, says Fay’s arrival in Sudbury in 1973 was welcome news for anyone needing dialysis treatment. Before 1973, northerners had to drive to Toronto for dialysis treatment.
