Foundation expects public to support new fund for Alzheimer’s care

The executive director of the North Bay and Area Community Foundation expects donations to a newly created fund to grow with time.

The fund is the Bob and Carol Wood Fund for Alzheimer`s Care.

Earlier this year Bob Wood announced he`s been diagnosed with Alzheimer`s.

NBACF executive director Kate Merritt-Dupelle expects the fund to start small but to grow over time.

“I’m sure people will make donations in Bob’s name because he’s such a well known figure and leader in our community,” said Kate Merritt-Dupelle.

“He’s been courageous when it’s come to his diagnosis.”

Merritt-Dupelle says since the foundation helps a variety of groups, people who want to direct their donation to the Wood fund should address it as such.

The fund will be help to provide money toward things like research as long as it relates to Alzheimer care.

In the past the NBACF has donated to the Alzheimer Society and has made money available for art therapy and music memory projects.

NBACF serves North Bay and communities as far as South River to the south and from West Nipissing to Mattawa along the Highway 17 corridor.
