West Nipissing Police issue ransomware warning
West Nipissing Police are warning people not to open emails or attachments that they don’t recognize or trust.
The reason is you could be giving hackers easy access to your computer.
Police say there was a hacking attempt in the municipality after they got a call from a local group saying it was the target of ransomware.
The organization did not pay the ransom and was able to recover its data because it had also been stored on a backup system.
