MP Anthony Rota expected to be named Liberal nominee for Nipissing-Timiskaming

With the federal election set for next October, Liberals in Nipissing-Timiskaming are not losing any time settling on a candidate.

The party’s riding association has set a meeting for November 1st where the membership will select riding MP Anthony Rota as the candidate to lead them into the next election.

Rota is completing his first term in office since winning back the riding in 2015 from Jay Aspin, the individual who won Nipissing-Timiskaming for the Conservative Party in 2011.

Rota has represented Nipissing-Timiskaming consecutively from 2004 to 2011.

Since his return to the House of Commons, Rota has served as the Assistant Deputy House Speaker and also the Assistant Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Whole.

Shortly after winning his seat back in 2015, Rota was appointed as a presiding officer of the House of Commons.

The nomination meeting takes place at the Centre Culturel les Compagnons at 7:30pm.
