Only two active forest fires left in Northeastern Ontario

After the tough forest fire season firefighters had in the northeast, the number of active fires is now down to two.

Those fires are under control.

Firefighters are getting help from Mother Nature which has given the region enough rain to keep the fire hazard at low.

Firefighters remain at Parry Sound 33, the massive fire that almost closed Highway 69 because of heavy smoke.

Access roads by that fire remain closed to keep the public safe and to ensure firefighters don’t run into public interference.

The firefighters continue to use firefighting equipment from British Columbia, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories and Nova Scotia.
