West Nipissing council agrees to Highway 64 closure for culvert replacement project

The Ministry of Transportation has West Nipissing council approval to close Highway 64 for a massive culvert replacement project.

The goal is to close the highway for seven straight days so crews can quickly install a culvert corridor between Sturgeon Falls and Field.

With the highway closed crews can work 24 hours a day.

The closure will take place either next July or August or in 2020 during the same two months.

Once the MTO knows what year it will do the work, it has to notify residents and ensure emergency services have access through the affected area in case someone needs help.
